My first impression of taiwan
This is my personal blog and what I discuss on here is based on my opinion and how I view things. I came to Taiwan in October 2003 . Although the government has me on record since January 2004. I will not go into detail about that now. Taiwan was a two week decision . I saw an ad and applied . The next week I was off and leaving on a plane. I didn't do much research on where I was going or look up what Taiwan culture was about. I do recommend that you read up about a country before you go. It saves you all the hardships on making cultural bloopsies AS I often did and as a result got a book on Taiwan culture. If you had told me ten years ago that I would be in Taiwan , I would have thought you we're nuts. I came here for MONEY first and foremost. As I got off the plane I remember a distinctive flower smell , that made me realize I was in paradise. The heat flushed over me like a hot oven when opening its doors I later learned that floral scent was actually from the airport's air vents and that in July the following year I would be sweating buckets , October was not hot.I consider my first arrival as the birth of my existence in Taiwan and as with birth no one remembers or can only recall a few things in your childhood.I came alone. I didn't know anyone except the phone no. I had to dial when I arrived. Not knowing the language and culture I quickly had to revise my Pictionary game skills ( some hand signs and actions are not the same). I didn't miss my family or friends . When you live in your own country , you don't realize how far you have come or how embedded you are in your own culture. Small things you take forgranted in your home country become big challenges in another country. 1stly my name was spelled wrong which is why I was delayed. Having figured out WESSEIS was my name I hopped onto a chicken coop taxi. A chicken coop Taxi-doesn't look like the yellow cabs but, take people to and from the airport. After 3 hours . I finally got the chance to unpack and unravel
